If you look along the border of your raw, you will sometimes notice excess parts such as the edges of other pages, black bars, or if the image has been rotated white gaps. These are things that needs to be cropped off or cut out of the scan.

To crop the scan, all you need to do is select the crop tool  and then use it to draw a box around your whole scan. You'll notice that the box made by the crop tool is adjustable. Move the edges of the box inward so that any parts you want to crop is shaded gray.
When you are ready, hit 'Enter' on your keyboard and the scan will be cropped.
