Is there any plot/situations that you just can't stand in a manga because it is too cliche? I for one have read many of those tyeps of mangas. I was just wondering what typical cliche plots do you hate the most? Or..are you a fan of cliche manga? Tell your opinion (:
Guess I'll start...
I've read quite a few cliche manga..some I have liked (because of the characters and artwork) like Moe Kare!! and Fruits Basket. But I can't stand others like...Uwasa no Midori-kun << partly because of the suprise ending though I just didn't like Midori's character/personality.
I also hate cliche situations when the main heroine is in danger (like when thugs are hitting on her) then out of nowhere pops up the guy she likes and knocks the dudes out in one blow. I also hate it when so-called Mr.Popularity of the school who's invincible decides to choose a really dumb girl out of random because she doesn't like him (and all the other girls do). I don't mind it if the girl's character is nice and she has a strong personality, also if it takes her a while to fall in love with the guy because she likes someone else or has a boyfriend. But there you go (=

Those guys usually have pretty annoying personalities too. =__=
Personally I dislike how good-looking main characters always are.
Even when the girl is supposed to be really ugly and whatnot, it always turns out that she just needs some lipstick or whatever to become a beauty queen
For once I would like to see a girl who actually is ugly, but is still an interestig character.. just one who isn't perfect.
Same with the guys too. |

Ugh, Uwasa no Midori-kun was toooo cliche.
You could totally tell what was going to happen next.
I really like Kaichou-wa Maid-sama cuz it's totally not typical.
^-^ Another one COULD be... ROCKIN' HEAVEN!!
I know some poeple really like it but it was soooi cliche. |

lol
i recognized the personalities of the mangaka Shinjo Mayu series...most of the them:
the guy abused her and then falls in love with him...
i don't know for you guys, but i never heard a girl who would fall in love with the guy who raped her... |

Thats always been one of the really irritating things about that kind of story. I mean apart from the typical stupid/weak heroine. The girl always falls in love with her rapist, or abuser, which makes absolutely no sense to me. What makes a lot more sense, is to get out of that situation, and find a real guy, not a abusive bastard.
Speaking just for myself, I usually won't read that kind of story. I've read too many as it is, and have long ago learned my lesson. |

I completely agree. I love that series because it's really odd and unique.
The weak heroines are so dull and boring. Especially how they whine and cry for the guy to help them all the time. Plus, the guys are just too perfect sometimes. It's unnatural.
Fushigi Yuugi is like that. The girl is so annoying that I got a headache from reading the series! |

Yeah, I know what you mean. I sooooooooooo much hate Miaka from FY! I think she was the main reason why I stoped reading it (even though I was like... 5 vol away from the end?).
Lately, I'm finding it really difficult to start reading shoujo stories in general. Most of them have the same stereotype of heroine, and I'm actually pretty sick of them. Thank God there are some exceptions, like Kaichou and Skip Beat!. |

i dont like anything that's made by uwasa no midori-kun's series. also i decided (from my own side) that i wont download any more of shinjou mayu's works and just keep 1 series instead: doting love strip and the other 2 one shots that's the continuation of that.
i have lots of cliched mangas, but by far those two are the worst. though i've had my fill of takada rie's works as well, but i kinda like the series she made cause of the funny bits and some unexpected bits in between.. :p
which is why i hate fushigi yuugi the most. wonder why the actually made it to vol. 14 or something.. and it's too freakin long with a boring story and gosh.. miaka really should stop crying.. -_-
