Cleaning Tutorial:Step 1:GrayscaleHi, below is a raw for you to use to follow the tutorials along. I've separated the steps into separate topics, so hopefully it'll be more digestible this way.

When you first get a raw, you need to check if the image needs to be grayscaled. If the color palette does not look like the image below, than the raw needs to be grayscaled.
Grayscaling a raw is easy. All you need to do is select 'Image>>Mode>>Grayscale' from the drop down menu at the top. Then, you'll notice that the color palette has changed to match the one above. This'll make it easier to work with later since the image does not have any other color except black, white, and gray.
SAVING
Now, you'll need to save your scan as a PSD, so that you can make changes to it later if need be and this way it won't lessen the quality of the scan. You will just need to select 'File>>Save As' or hit 'Shift+Ctrl+s.' Then, for format select PSD.

You should periodically save your scan, just in case something should happen while you are working on it, you won't lose your changes.
