Cleaning Tutorial: Tool Guide(Photoshop)Hi, I've created this topic for those who want to learn how to clean raw scans for scanlations. This is just a really basic tool guide for those who are unfamiliar with photoshop and do not know what the tools are. It'll make it easier for you to follow along with my tutorials that I will be adding in the future.
When you first open Photoshop, the workspace will look like the image below. Its Photoshop 7.0, but all versions of Photoshop generally look like this.

Brush Tool: Inside Toolbar. Used to wipe out dirt and text from scans.
Once the brush tool is selected, you can select your brush type at the top:
Character: Window>Character. Can be used to modify text.
Clone Tool: Inside Toolbar. Can be used to clone patterns over Japaneses or Chinese text.
Color: Right-hand side. Can be used to adjust the color of the text or brush tool.
Crop: Inside Toolbar. Can be used to crop out excess parts of a scan.
Direct/Path Selection Tool: Inside Toolbar. Can be used to adjust the path drawn by the pen tool.
History: Right-hand side. Shows all you've done on the scan. Can be used to go back to a previous state and undo changes.
Layers: Right-hand side. It lets you put different parts of the image on separate layers, so that it does not interfere with each other.
Layer Set: Inside Layers. Can be used to organize the layers by placing them inside folders.
Move Tool: Inside Toolbar. Can be used to move elements such as images and text around.
Navigator: Right-hand side. Can be used to zoom in and out on the image or even quickly change what part of the image is being viewed.
Paths: Click on the tab inside Layers that says Paths. Can be used to stroke the path drawn by the pen tool.
Pen Tool:Inside Toolbar. Can be used to redraw lines that have been erased.
Quick Mask Mode: Inside Toolbar. Can be used to select areas that needs to be leveled separately, especially for gutter areas.
Rectangular Marquee Tool: Inside Toolbar. A useful selection tool.
Stroke: Right-click a text layer and select Blending Options. Can be used to add white or black border around text.

Text Tool: Inside Tool bar. Can be used to add text to the scans.
Warp Text: Select text and click on this button at the top to open the Wrap Text tool. It can be used to exaggerate or modify the text form.
Zoom Tool: Inside Toolbar. Can be used to zoom in and out on the image.
